A wood-burning stove is believed to be the cause of a fire that destroyed a single-family home in the town of Christiana in southeastern Dane County early Thursday morning.
The home and contents were valued at $300,000.
The fire was reported at 5:57 a.m. at the residence at 336 Hoopen Road.
Fire departments from Cambridge, Stoughton and Deerfield, along with Dane County sheriff’s deputies and the Stoughton EMS, responded to the blaze.
Three occupants were in the home when the fire started, and all got out safely. One of the occupants called 911 to report the fire, said sheriff’s office spokesperson Elise Schaffer.
The fire remains under investigation.
